CAFE TERO is controlled with ideal conditions for the cultivation of the Arabica plant species in Colombia, which is found between the 1.200 (4,000 ft) and 1.800 meters (6,000 ft) above the sea level, with temperatures between 17 and 23 degrees centigrade (62-75 Fahrenheit) and with precipitations close to 2.000 mm (78 inch) per year, well distributed along the year. Although these conditions are very frequent, it is also possible to produce an outstanding coffee at altitudes of up to 2,300 metres (7,500ft) or marginally lower than 1,200 metres and with different levels or frequency of precipitations.
Aside from the special conditions of altitude, latitude and climate, Colombian coffee growing has an essential attribute: the quality of its soil. The soil at our coffee growing regions has characteristics for being in its majority derivative volcanic ashes, which endows them with a high content of organic material and good physical characteristics for coffee production.
Colombian coffee growers believe in coffee production based on principles that protect and conserve natural resources. This is one of the most important strategies to add quality to the product, improve the income of the coffee growing families, and contribute to the preservation of Colombia’s unique and treasured environmental mega-diversity.
Behind every serving of a cup of coffee, espresso, cappuccino, there is always a complex story. Coffee is a special product, with a particular story, that requires complex growing environments and harvest conditions, crop management and a lot of work in its harvesting and processing. A high-quality coffee bean requires great dedication.
But not only the history and its production conditions make coffee special. Coffee is much more than a simple beverage. Many millions of producers in the developing world depend on it, and on this product converge hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Coffee has also demonstrated to have positive properties for people's health. This topic of coffee and health, that for a long time have generated myths that are sometimes deeply rooted, is now a new area of research that has shown that coffee has benefits for health and has provided additional reasons to consume this wonderful product.
